Google Nest indoor/outdoor wireless security camera is on sale today

The second-generation Google Nest is an indoor/outdoor wireless security camera that uses a rechargeable power battery. Since it no longer needs to be near an outlet or external wiring, you can connect it anywhere. That’s a win-win for those of us without electrical experience or the time to mess around with detailed wiring instructions.

Thanks to Matter inclusion, the Google Nest works with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and all HomePods, and all Google devices. You can check live streams and footage using your smartphone or fire up your home hub. Live alerts are sent directly to your phone via an app so you can see what’s happening in real time.

There’s no subscription required for the Google Nest indoor/outdoor security camera. It records and stores three hours of free video events. If you need to hold on to footage longer than that, you’ll want to invest in a Nest Aware subscription, which runs $8/month or $80/year for a single camera.

The Google Nest security camera recognizes familiar faces, animals, and vehicles, allowing you to bypass notifications if, say, your son is coming home from school or a squirrel is sitting at your mailbox.

This camera has a 110-degree field of view, Night Vision, and records in 1080p HD. Videos are clear day and night, and it’s an easy task to view footage, talk to anyone near the camera, and capture screenshots.

This Nest does not work with the Google Nest app. Be aware that if you have older cameras still using that app, you’ll need to work with this one through the Google Home app instead.

If you need a reliable indoor/outdoor security camera that works across all devices, it’s hard to go wrong with Google Nest.
